Do Lost Clock Use Generative AI?

NOPE.

Lost Clock are storytellers, we are filmmakers, and we are real humans- imperfections ’n’ all. One thing we are not is prompt-writers.

We understand that ‘AI’ is a generalised, nebulous umbrella term. So our simple line in the sand is as follows: we do not use AI to generate any videos or photos. We do not use any LLMs (ChatGPT/Claude etc) to generate scripts, stories, ideas or touch-ups. We know that occasionally some technical software programmes we use will have elements that fall under the “AI” label (noise-reduction, spell-check, transcription generation, automated chroma-keying etc etc), but we treat these as technical tools to streamline mundane, non-creative tasks.

We never use AI for the creative work.

As much as anything else, that’s the fun bit!!!!

There is a much larger conversation to be had here (let’s not get into the fact that Generative AI is basically one big ol’ plagiarisation machine that regurgitates art made by real humans) but we’ll bore you with that one over a pint some day. For now, here’s the important thing: People do care how the ‘sausage was made’. More than ever, viewers want to see the humans behind the stories - we’re talking BTS, How-Tos, Interviews with the subjects - more content, baby!

“78% of consumers still prefer human-made adverts and 87% say the best advertising requires a human touch.”

Canva’s State of Marketing

and AI Report 2026, https://thenextweb.com/news/canva-ai-marketing-consumer-trust-gap-report

“63% [of customers] would be less likely to buy from a brand that uses AI-generated ads, and 73% would be less likely to trust an ad they suspected was made with AI."

The Harris Poll / 4As / Infillion, https://www.aaaa.org/blog/consumers-are-sick-and-tired-of-hearing-about-ai-all-the-time/

So, listen, we ain’t judging. We’ve all used ChatGPT to walk us through a spreadsheet, or give us a recipe for Spag Bol using only the two ingredients we have left in our fridge (margarine and half a lime). But when it comes to making films that really connect with the humans on the other end, we strongly believe - now and forever - that it’s best to have humans make them in the first place.
